At the end of last week, a news item reached the editorial board about the body of a woman who was ejected onto a beach in Gaza, west of Beit Lahiya. The body was in an advanced state of decay, and the source, who is affiliated with Hamas, estimated on his online page that the body was swept to a beach known as the Sudanese coast, from an area that is external to the Gaza Strip. This was a hint by the Hamas journalist that the body might have been swept to Gaza from Israel.
Later, another Hamas man responded to the news, and he attached to the original news a picture showing a body dressed, which looks like a woman's body. According to the garment, it appears to be a young Western woman.

The question of every journalist who has such information comes to his desk is whether it is true. And such a professional will immediately look for a source to cross-reference the information, to verify it.

But in Gaza, there is no such source because all the institutions and all the people are mobilized for the Israel-Palestine war. One can of course contact, or at least try to contact, the Gaza police on the question of whether a body has indeed been found. But in the present reality there will not be one answer that can be trusted, nor will there be one source that can be said with certainty that is not on behalf of. The terror that Hamas inflicts on all the organizations and people in its vicinity, and the terror of the government of the Islamic dictatorship of Gaza, as well as the widespread anger against Israel in public, leave Gaza as a black hole for Israel and Israelis. Gaza is a black hole for Israelis, but Israel is no different than Gaza. Israel, too, is a black hole for Gaza residents, even if Israeli institutions usually report the truth to journalistic questions, and even if it is not difficult to find Israeli sources that are credible and non-institutional. Israel is still a black hole for the Palestinians. why? Because Israel, too, is enlisted, including its institutions, organizations, and people, for the Palestinian-Israeli war. And everything that takes place almost within its borders is subject to the needs of this war. And it even sacrifices considerable parts of the democratic view to that end.
First, the people who come to work in Israel, some of whom are subject to working conditions that no Israeli would even agree to think about. Anyone who says that democracy is not tested in working conditions should ask many of the Palestinians who work here. Or the coal workers in Europe in the late Middle Ages. An Israeli in any case would spit on the person who would offer him to work like many of the Palestinian work: hours without a limit. Sleep in niches that are a black sign in honor of man. To this must be added the humiliation at the checkpoints, and the line of thieves who stole thousands of shekels from the wages of many Palestinian workers, for fake work permits.

And all this is happening in Israel, and almost no one talks about it. Because not only is Israel mobilized for war, most of its public is also mobilized.
What then is Israel for a Palestinian worker from Gaza if not a black hole? A land for which it is a mystery, which on the one hand declares under every fresh tree about being enlightened and progressive, and in the darkness the enlightened becomes for him a threshold of slavery; For his part, Israel is a dark place, which is at war against him, and against his loved ones, and he can see and understand nothing from it except the war; He needs the money, but deep in his consciousness neither he nor any other person, certainly not any Israeli, was willing to pay the heavy price that came with the salary. The prison under conditions of slavery at his place of work, or the prison under conditions of siege in his home.

Second, cases like the 80-year-old man, who was stopped at a checkpoint, were taken to an abandoned house, where he was left frozen at night, and there he died. He died alone, freezing. It was said that the case was closed. What does it say about Israel that the case has been closed? Please note, on the one hand, the soldiers followed the regulations and procedures, and the army is satisfied. But are these procedures and regulations that led to the death, in a secluded and frozen room, of a person who is undoubtedly not a soldier in an enemy army, can these procedures and regulations be the norms and procedures of a democratic state? Or of an army that belongs to a democratic state? Or of an army and a state that 67 generations have dreamed of and murmured: from Zion will come Torah and the word of God from Jerusalem?
The answer is no. And the connection between Israel and the dream is no longer so close. And as this connection fades, Israel will degenerate into tyranny and dark age.
