Yom Kippur of sectarian voting

עיתון בין אויבים

A newspaper among enemies

A coalition with a black flag flying over it is probably starting. I say probably, because a High Court decision is still needed regarding Aryeh Deri, and the amendment to the Basic Law of the Government, and if, God forbid, the High Court allows the existence of this amendment, because then a person whose life is marred by a suspended prison sentence, will be able to be a minister in the Israeli government. There are sentences that need to be written twice, the government of Israel, which 70 generations of Jews have dreamed of since the destruction of the Second Temple, a person who was sentenced to a suspended sentence, could be a minister in it. And still, Deri's appointment is the least threatening event for Israeli society and is primarily a matter of values. Appointments of the extremist duo Smotrich and Ben Gvir is the main threat to the democratic regime.

This is a much greater threat than the military threat that hangs over Israel because this threat disintegrates Israeli society, while the military threat unites it. Chief Justice Procchia said last weekend things that mean that the public must take to the streets to prevent the tattooing of democracy by the expected coalition; These words, which can be read in depth in the commentary of our legal commentator, the former judge and vice president of the Central District, Avraham Ya'akov, are the last hope of this public, according to which the Supreme Court may stop the Ben Gvir Smotrich coalition at the last moment, and may throw up it from the Israeli public so that it does not tarnish Israel forever; Not only in the moral sense of not being tarnished, but in the practical sense of war crimes. The silence of Hayut after Procacia's words may show that the Supreme Court intends to be active in the spirit of Procacia in the public crisis that threatens the democratic regime in Israel; This public mobilization may be a wake-up call for many in the public, and it may stop the disintegration, in the journey towards strengthening democracy, and especially closing the loopholes, through which Smotrich and Ben Gvir reached the heart of the public arena. In the past, the legal system was able to protect the Israeli public from people who threaten the democratic regime, for example Kahana; Our hope is that the legal system will be able to protect us from Smutrich and Ben Gvir as well. This is not a simple task since the freedom of speech, and the freedom to be elected, are at the heart of our democratic values, and the legal defense tool must be very rare and highly reasoned. It is even possible that in the current public structure, Israel and its legal system do not have the tools to protect Israeli democracy.

The establishment of this coalition is the culmination of a sectarian eastern vote that began in 1977, when the eastern Israeli communities voted against the political parties that were considered to have conceived and carried out the Ashkenazi racial attack against the east, from the dawn of revival, and from the beginning of Israel's establishment. This pre-biased vote, which gradually sharpened until the current moments of depression, came after two important stops in the Mizrahi struggle: the Wadi Salib protest in 1959, which was silenced by a committee of inquiry in solidarity with the government at the time, followed by the Black Panthers in the early seventies of the last century, who also received deep contempt from the Golda Meir government. Another event that took place in 1982, which made it clear to what extent the Mizrahi pain is becoming a social infection, and a disease that will one day threaten the State of Israel, was when Yona Avroshemi, attacked a demonstration where leftists were marching and murdered Emil Greenzweig. "It was an oriental act" Avroshemi said in an interview in 2011 in Maariv to Sarah Leibovich-Der.

Yom Kippur has now arrived for the biased eastern vote, when a group came to power due to this vote whose views clearly contradict the principles of eastern culture, the culture of the ancestors of the voters of rage and revenge in the eastern electorate; This Eastern culture, which placed all the important writings of Judaism, and at the head of the writings the Babylonian Talmud, was born amid the value debate and the balance between the considerations, whatever they may be. Whereas the complete confidence of a way that is single-minded and violent in its determination, is clearly foreign to her. One of the examples of Eastern moderation, which is a fundamental part of Eastern culture, is the relinquishment by the Eastern public of the primacy in leading the Jewish revival and the return to Zion, even though it was the East that conceived the return and the dream of return, following the commandments of the Bible, and he, the East, which formulated the vision of the modern Jewish state in the book by Yehuda Bivas and Yehuda Alkalai God's Fate, from which Benjamin Ze'ev Herzl drew his ideas and formulated them in the plagiarized "State of the Jews", which turned the revival into an exclusively Ashkenazi event. The moderate East was silent and did not revolt, because this is the heart of its culture, to strive for reconciliation and balance between all circumstances, to think again, to understand and analyze all the considerations, and when there is no settled law that emerges from the considerations, to present only the considerations in a poignant and clear manner; In this sense, the biased vote in advance, which has no deliberation, and whose considerations are external, a vote that brought Smotrich and Ben Gvir to the heart of the Israeli public, and to the heart of the executive authority, is a Mizrahi value and cultural destruction, which has no precedent between the destruction of the Second Temple, and the beginning of the revival.
