An Arab offer was submitted to Israel, with Hamas's knowledge and with the knowledge of the US: 10 hostages, some alive, in exchange for the release of 50 life prisoners and 1,100 detainees from Gaza, in exchange for an Israeli commitment to move to phase two of negotiations to end the war. The new ceasefire will last until after Passover. The government tells the public that Hamas is entrenched in its refusal to negotiate
The Israeli government is providing information to the Israeli press that there is no progress in negotiations to release the hostages in Phase 1, and that Hamas is refusing any demand. This information contradicts the information we have. A Palestinian source who has proven his credibility many times, reported that Egypt in recent days submitted a proposal to Israel for a hostage deal; the Arab countries, the US and Hamas are behind the proposal and are now awaiting Israel's response. If Israel agrees to the proposal, the new ceasefire will last until after Passover. In Phase 2, Hamas will demand a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and an end to the war. As we reported last week, and in February of this year and before, in exclusive reports, in exchange for a withdrawal and an end to the war, Hamas will agree to relinquish control of Gaza, and will allow the Gaza Management Committee, which was established by agreement between it and the Palestinian Authority, and with the consent of the Arab states and with the knowledge of the US, to disarm it. One of Israel's fundamental demands is the elimination of Hamas's military power; Its disarmament could therefore fulfill this demand. If Hamas were to withdraw from its agreement to disarm in Phase 2, Israel would have reason to return to war with greater intensity.
Egypt has submitted to Israel a proposal to release hostages, in line with Israel's demand to extend Phase 1. According to the proposal, Hamas will release 10 hostages, some alive, in exchange for the release of 50 Palestinian life prisoners and an Israeli commitment to move to Phase 2 in negotiations to end the war. In addition to the life prisoners, Israel will also release approximately 1,100 Palestinian detainees who have been detained since October 7 in Gaza. If Israel agrees to the proposal, the new ceasefire will last until the end of Passover.
As we reported exclusively for the first time in January 2024, and for the second time in February of this year and last week, Hamas will agree, in exchange for an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and an end to the war, to disarm, relinquish power in the Gaza Strip, and transfer it to the Gaza Management Committee that was established about two weeks ago by agreement between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. The committee was established by the Palestinian government in Ramallah.
The Israeli government, through reports and leaks, makes it clear that Hamas is standing by its refusal, thereby justifying the continuation of the war and even its escalation.
