Our Woman/Man of the Year for 2025 is Einav Tsengauker
Our choice is justified by Avraham Yaakov, Meir Jurno and Mati Cohen:
This year, we chose Einav Tsengauker as our newspaper's Woman/Man of the Year.
Einav fights as a mother, and as a person with outstanding public skills, and leads an entire movement of Israelis after her, in her fight to return the kidnapped, the dead and the living.
Einav has demonstrated incredible abilities, perseverance, determination and civic courage, in the face of the failed government of October 7, 2023, and its leader.
She did not hesitate to take any action, whether in heat or cold, in Israel or abroad, if it would lead to the desired goal.
Einav did not shy away from harsh criticism and even suffered from verbal and physical abuse. Despite this, she did not hesitate, and to this day she continued her struggle, which in our opinion is just and moral.
Einav succeeded in uniting around her various protest movements, leading figures in the economy and academics, and most of the Israeli public, regardless of their religions and denominations, all with the goal of returning the abductees to the country in one comprehensive deal. The connection between her public strength that was revealed during the struggle, and her determined striving to save her son and his brothers, the abductees, brought her unique character to express; this connection happened in the circumstances of the heavy war; perhaps in normal life circumstances, it would not have been revealed so clearly. Einav succeeded in uniting around her, most of the Israeli public, regardless of political views, and thus contributed and continues to contribute to heal the deep social divide in Israel.
Therefore, we chose her this year as our newspaper's Woman/Man of the Year. See another ethical aspect of the pursuit of the release of the kidnapped, and the redemption of captives, in today's editorial.
