The Headline

On September 26, 2023, the Egyptian intelligence chief landed in Israel and met at Ben Gurion Airport with the head of the National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi

The Egyptian told Hanegbi that Hamas would invade the Negev on October 7, 2023, capture settlements and kidnap civilians and soldiers

We do not know whether Hanegbi conveyed the information he received to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or to the IDF.

We know that Hanegbi was dismissed from the National Security Council, about two years after the massacre, and we do not know whether his dismissal was related to the information he received

An important source told our military commentator Meir Jurno the details of the golden information that Egypt passed on to Israel about the massacre, kidnappings and occupation that would occur on October 7, 2023. The source also told Jurno how the golden information was conveyed to Israel: The Egyptian intelligence chief arrived at Ben Gurion Airport on a special flight, at noon on Tuesday, September 26. 2023, the day after Yom Kippur, and he arrived ad hoc to deliver the news. A few minutes after landing, the head of Egyptian military intelligence met at Ben Gurion Airport with the head of the National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, and informed him that Hamas would invade the Negev on the morning of October 7, and its goal would be to conquer and kidnap civilians and soldiers. At the end of the meeting, the head of intelligence returned to his plane and immediately took off back to Egypt. We do not know whether Hanegbi conveyed the golden information he received to Prime Minister Netanyahu and or the IDF in a message between the organizations or to the Chief of Staff personally. We all know, however, that Hanegbi was removed from the head of the National Security Council, about two years after the outbreak of the war, and wrote in his farewell letter that "the failure on October 7 must be thoroughly investigated." Does this line imply that Hanegbi claims to have conveyed the information to the Prime Minister and or the IDF? Does the fact that the news of the Egyptian intelligence chief's hasty arrival in Israel ad hoc to convey the information, has not been leaked so far, imply that the information was conveyed to the Prime Minister? Only a state investigation committee, with broad powers, can answer these questions. Smadar Perry, from Yedioth Ahronoth, previously published that information about the expected attack was conveyed to Israel ten days before October 7.
