The suspicion arose approximately six months ago. Following the initial suspicion, it was allegedly discovered that an IDF force had smuggled weaponry to Hamas .In the wake of the incident, officers and NCOs from the battalion were interrogated; during the investigation, several officers and NCOs were suspended, and the battalion was redeployed from the Gaza sector to a different area. Two bodies are authorized to investigate IDF soldiers: the Military Police (MP) and the Shin Bet. The former is responsible for criminal investigations, while the Shin Bet is responsible for investigating security offenses, the most severe of which is treason.
