Nasrallah, the calm model

עיתון בין אויבים

A newspaper among enemies

Yesterday, Hassan Nasrallah's conciliatory speech, in the Israeli context. Before he spoke, the head of Hezbollah was already informed of the details of the paper that the American mediator delivered to the Lebanese president in the morning, as the details of the proposed deal appeared in El Manar a few hours before his speech. This was probably the source of the silence, the absence of finger waving and ambiguous looks. Nasrallah raised his voice in his speech only when he spoke about ISIS as a movement that arose because of the US, as it was "full of CIA agents" and when he cried out where the Arab world would be if Iran had not succeeded in stopping ISIS, and cried out that the US wants to fight Putin but through Ukrainian soldiers , since otherwise it would have accepted Ukraine into NATO.
On the other hand, when he spoke about the agreement with Israel, this time he was calm and relaxed, and his voice was particularly low, saying that he did not have the authority to decide, and that only the Lebanese government could do. He did not mention his previous threats to the Lebanese government, lest it exceed his demands, in the speech. The Israeli sigh of relief, at the end of yesterday's speech, could surely be heard all the way to the border of Lebanon.
Al Manar noted that according to an updated source on the details of the paper submitted to Lebanon, Israel gave its consent to the details of the paper, meaning that the American mediator conveyed to the Lebanese president a proposal that Israel had already agreed to. In Israel they say that the paper must go through discussion and approval. Al Manar also noted that the agreement will not be signed between the countries but will be expressed in a Lebanese and Israeli letter to the United Nations. According to the agreement, the Kana field will remain in the hands of Lebanon, and although it was not stated that way in the article in Al Manar, it can be concluded that the Karish field will remain in the hands of Israel. Israel, on the other hand, says that it will receive compensation for its share of the Cana field. According to Al Manar, the new line is not a straight line, which stretches from the shore at ninety degrees (according to Lebanon's view) or stretches from the shore at a sharp angle (according to Israel) but is a line that expresses the compromise that includes each of the fields into the economic waters of the neighboring country. Regarding the security zone requested by Israel, in Lebanon they say that this has not been agreed upon, in Israel, on the other hand, they say that all of Israel's security requirements have been met. Binyamin Netanyahu commented on Sunday (October 2) to the emerging agreement and said that it does not bind his government if it is established. Even if these things are unfounded in the political sense, they probably add to Israel's deterrence towards Hezbollah.
