In a meeting about a month ago between Israeli and Palestinian students to activists of Palestinian neighborhoods in Jerusalem, which were attended by about a hundred students, an Israeli student who received permission to speak claimed that there was a phenomenon of sexual harassment of women in French Hill, by Palestinians from the neighboring neighborhoods who visit French Hill. A Palestinian neighborhood activist to whom the student referred asked if Palestinian public figures were aware of the phenomenon, responded with an inappropriate joke, from which he immediately withdrew, then added that Palestinian culture rejects sexual harassment.

In response to our question, the Israel Police replied that the phenomenon of sexual harassment of Israeli women on French Hill by residents of nearby Palestinian neighborhoods, is not known to it and added: We take such events seriously, in the area mentioned, and everywhere. At the same time, we are not familiar with any such phenomenon. It should be noted that every complaint received by the police about this type of offense, in general, is thoroughly investigated and handled professionally to reach the truth and bring to justice those involved. We will continue to work for the safety and security of the residents of the city of Jerusalem.
